World Mission Society Church of God in Philadelphia Mother's Day Luncheon

Mother’s Day Luncheon

Mothers devote themselves to taking care of their families whole-heartedly. Their boundless love, sacrifice and selfless actions are seen all over the world. The moms in Philadelphia are no exception. To let their moms know how much they are appreciated, on May 10, 2015, members of the World Mission Society Church of God hosted a Mother’s Day luncheon.

They kicked off the day with videos showcasing the love and sacrifice of mothers in everyday life. The room was quickly filled with deep sighs and tears. Then through the contemporary dance performances and songs, members expressed their appreciation for their mothers’ love. Watching the performances together, the bond between family members grew stronger as they understood the glue and core of all families – their mothers.

The day continued with an interactive museum featuring photos, poems, thank you letters and works of art that reminded the guests of their early childhood and the comfort they received from their own mothers.

And then they played a game called “How Well Do You Know Your Mom?”

Children made their mothers smile and laugh answering questions such as, “What is your mom’s favorite color?” and “What is your mom’s favorite movie?” The results showed that not every mom’s favorite color is pink.

But it didn’t end there. Moms were also treated to a spa. This was the most popular feature of the day. Moms received back massages, hand and foot rubs and dazzling manicures. And as the day came to an end, moms left with priceless gift baskets, prepared by the members with love.

  1. I was fortunate to participate in the Mother’s Day luncheon. This was the first year both my kids were away from home, so I was feeling a bit lonely, that is, until I went to the event. The spa time was great, I needed a little pampering that day. Thank you!

  2. Every year Church of God holds these phenomenal Mother’s day events, where mothers and daughters/sons can create not only pleasant memories in a beautiful atmosphere but also get a chance to bond over many activities, games and touching performances. Though the love between a mother and child by nature is unbreakable, in chaotic lives of this century, unfortunately even this love seems to grow cold. The Church of God Mother’s day event surely is a great way to not only look back to good old days but create new ones with our dear mothers whom we love so much. I can’t wait to join the next Mother’s day event with my mom.

  3. It’s the little things in life that have a huge impact and at the Mothers Day Event, the Church of God members truly displayed love and consideration by caring for the attendees needs in so many ways.

This was one of the first events my mom and I attended. I remember thinking, “Wow, so much attention to details”. The members put so much love and effort into making each activity that day, so special.
