Elohim: God the Father and God the Mother

“Let Us Make Man in Our Image ...”

The original Hebrew term for God is Elohim, which is plural for gods. This word can be found over 2,500 times throughout the Old Testament, and its intentional use is not without reason.

Let’s look at the Scripture Bible.

“And Elohim said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness’ … And Elohim created the man in His image, in the image of Elohim He created him — male and female He created them.”

These words suggest a plural God, both male and female. While Christians commonly refer to the male image as God the Father, it is logical to associate the female image with God the Mother (Gal 4:26). Throughout the Bible, there are references to Elohim working for the salvation of mankind.

“And יהוה said … ‘Come, let Us go there and confuse their language so that they do not understand one another’s speech.’”

This verse explains Elohim God working together to break the pride of men and stop them from building the Tower of Babel.

“And I heard the voice of יהוה, saying, ‘Whom do I send, and who would go for Us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I! Send me.’”

The prophets were sent out by Elohim God the Father and God the Mother who worked together for the salvation of mankind. And for this reason, Elohim God appear on the last page of the Bible promising eternal life to those who come.

“The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let the one who hears say, ‘Come!’ Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.’”
