The Bible Teaches Us About the Savior
Christians who believe in the Savior should recognize him clearly according to God’s standards. Although there are various ways to gain knowledge of God, Jesus specified the only and clearest way.
“He said to them, ‘This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms.’”
Luke 24:44
When Christ refers to the Law of Moses, Prophets, and Psalms, He is pointing to the Scriptures or the Old Testament. Even though one may read from Genesis to Malachi, they won’t find a single reference to Jesus’ name. However, Christ explained that these Scriptures bear witness to Him.
“‘These are the Scriptures that testify about me.’”
John 5:39
Christ’s words emphasize the significance of studying the Scriptures to recognize Him accurately. Even when restoring the faith of His disciples after His resurrection, Christ solely relied on the Scriptures, not using any other material.
“And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.”
Luke 24:27
At times, people might look for miracles to identify God in the flesh. However, Jesus cautioned through the Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus that the only way for people to repent and believe is through the Scriptures.
“He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”
Luke 16:31
