The Women’s Veil in Worship

When attending a worship service at the World Mission Society Church of God, visitors often observe a distinct difference in the style of worship compared to other churches. This contrast arises from the Church of God’s adherence to the practice of women wearing veils during worship.

It’s essential to note that this practice isn’t a mere invention of the church members; rather, it’s a cherished commandment from the Bible instituted by God.

“Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ ... But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head.”

1 Corinthians 11:1–4

Apostle Paul emphasized that men must not cover their heads during worship or prayer, while women should cover their heads. He preluded this by saying he follows the example of Christ. Moreover, he made it clear that the Church of God has no other practice.

“If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice—nor do the churches of God.”

The women’s veil in worship should be regarded as a precious commandment. Obedience to this law shows true reverence for God and a distinction of authentic worship. Lastly, it is a signature teaching of God’s true church, along with the Sabbath day and the feasts of God.
