The WMSCOG and God the Mother

Q: Why Does the WMSCOG believe in God the Mother?

A: It is natural that life comes from a mother. This principle applies not only to humans but extends to animals, birds, fish, plants, and all living entities and it aligns with God’s will both physically and spiritually.

“...since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”

God reveals His invisible qualities through the visible creation. Put simply, by observing the systems established on Earth, we can understand God. For instance, in the family system, God ordained fathers, mothers, and children. Likewise, God’s invisible, spiritual family should mirror this earthly model. Let’s explore this further.

“I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

This verse alone suggests the presence of God the Father and the children of God. However, in the earthly family system, it is the presence of a mother that enables men to be called fathers and children to be born. This is why God’s family must also have God the Mother. As it is written:

“But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.”

The mother in this context is the heavenly Jerusalem, who gives life and completes the heavenly family. Consequently, the Bible concludes with an invitation from the Spirit and the Bride—representing God the Father and God the Mother—calling us to come and receive eternal life (Rev 22:17).

The World Mission Society Church of God members have hope to be part of God’s true family which is made complete with God the Mother.
