The Church of God in Philadelphia
Philadelphia earned the nickname “The City of Brotherly Love” from its Greek roots. The name combines two Greek words: “philos,” meaning love or friendship, and “adelphos,” meaning brother. Together, they create “Philadelphia,” translating to brotherly love. The spirit of brotherly love remains an integral part of its identity and endures as a symbol of the city’s history and values.
In Jenkintown, part of the Greater Philadelphia area, members of the Church of God actively embody the essence of brotherly love by embracing Christ’s teachings to “Love one another.” Church members organize family activities, fostering unity and togetherness. They extend the love of Christ to their neighbors through initiatives like blood drives, community cleanups, and various events, showcasing Christ’s teachings as a force for positive change in the community.
