Receiving the Savior
After Christ’s crucifixion, two disciples left Jerusalem. Jesus appeared to them, but they did not recognize Him (Lk 24:13–32). Despite their time with Jesus, even three days prior, they couldn’t see Him. This account in the Bible teaches us that recognizing the Savior is not easy. However, Christ revealed the way to know Him:
“And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in the all the Scriptures concerning himself.”
Luke 24:27
“These are the Scriptures that testify about me.”
John 5:39
“‘Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father.’”
John 10:37
In the Garden of Eden, God the Father blocked the way to the tree of life when Adam and Eve after they disobeyed God. The tree of life, however, granted the promise of eternal life for all mankind.
“And the Lord God said ... ‘He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.’ So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.”
Genesis 3:22–24
Jesus Christ came to earth and opened the way to the tree of life, promising eternal life to those who eat the Passover bread and wine (Jn 6:53–55; Mt 26:19, 26–28).
